The Maples classroom is designed for children ages 24 – 36 months. In the Maples room, children spend their day in a more structured classroom environment. The children begin their daily schedule with a morning meeting. Through cooperative play and one theme activity each day, they begin to develop the attention span that is needed later on in a preschool classroom. Teachers stress the use of language to express needs, manners, and the proper use of materials and centers. More complex gross motor activities and methods of becoming independent, such as potty training rituals, are introduced.
